The members of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet -- John Dearman, William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant and Andrew York -- talk with NPR's Lisa Simeone about their 25 years together and the group's new CD, Guitar Heroes.

The quartet has an inspiring and wide-ranging repertoire, and while the guitarists stirive to keep a classical element to their programs, they also like to incorporate other genres.

"We're not a straight-ahead string quartet," says Kanengiser. "We get a nice balance between traditional things and all these new directions we're exploring."

The LAGQ playlist is below:

- El Baile de Luis Alonzo (Gerónimo Giméniz/arr by Pepe Romero)

- Pop (Andrew York)

- Icarus (Ralph Towner/arr. William Kanengiser)

- Hungarian Rhapsody #2 (Liszt)
