    Cornell University hosts pioneering rock guitarist June Millington of Fanny, Bruce Springsteen returns to Syracuse, Chickenwire Parachute releases their debut EP, and Herman Nugent marks his 50th birthday – all that and more is happening tonight!
  • Brown Eyed Women – an all-female Grateful Dead tribute band – comes to Deep Dive and Jair-Rohm Parker Wells returns to the Downstairs, both on Thursday night. Also, Pocket Bandits release their debut single, Maddy Walsh and the Blind Spots play a pop-up homecoming show, and the Newman Brothers make their long-awaited return! Plus, celebrate the solar eclipse at various venues on Monday afternoon!
  • St. Louis-based singer-songwriter Jackson Stokes brings his band to Cortland’s Rose Hall, Winter Squabee returns to the Stonecat Café, Deep Dive hosts a big disco party, and Max Childs releases his latest single! Plus, Ithaca Underground hosts three prog instrumental bands on Saturday night.Looking ahead to next week, local composer Josh Oxford presents a concert at Ithaca College on Monday night. And on Thursday, April 4, Brown Eyed Women – an all-female Grateful Dead tribute band – comes to Deep Dive and Jair-Rohm Parker Wells returns to the Downstairs!
  • J.Wail comes to Deep Dive, TISRA plays at Cornell, Andy Shauf visits the Center for the Arts of Homer, Rachael Kilgour plays the Beacon on Aurora Concert Series. Plus, catch dozens of local bands on stage throughout the region in the coming week!
  • Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a lot of local, regional, and national Celtic bands playing around Central New York this weekend! Also, Chimes of Bayonets celebrates the vinyl release of their latest album, two bands play tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia, and Cornell Cinema presents “32 Sounds.”
  • The third annual F.I.R.E. Festival will take place Sunday afternoon at the Center for the Arts of Homer. Organized by Syracuse singer-songwriter Jess Novak, the festival takes its name from an acronym, standing for “Females. Inspire. Rock. Empower.” And it’s taking place in March as part of an ongoing celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.
  • There are a bunch of cool shows happening this weekend, including Winter Roots at the Trumansburg Conservatory of the Arts, Tafelmusik at Cornell, and the F.I.R.E Festival at the Center for the Arts of Homer. And dozens of other local and regional bands will be onstage throughout the area in the coming week!
  • Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis return to Deep Dive – this time together! – while +LIVE+ comes to the State Theatre for an acoustic show that was postponed from November. Also, the Center for the Arts of Homer hosts Jim Messina and Red Baraat, and Come Back to Earth pays tribute to the late Mac Miller at Deep Dive.
  • Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue bring their “Shorty Gras” tour to the State Theatre, blues guitar blaster Eric Gales returns to the Center for the Arts of Homer, and legendary Irish singer Karan Casey is back for a benefit at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca. Plus, Hank Roberts joins the Galactic Escort Service at Deep Dive, and Jonathan Richman returns to Central New York!
  • St. Paul and the Broken Bones return to the State Theatre, Ladysmith Black Mambazo visits the Hangar Theatre, Aimee Mann and Godspeed You! Black Emperor play sold-out shows at the Center for the Arts of Homer, a bunch of local Americana bands team up at the Argos Warehouse and indie-rockers and DJs will converse on the Community School of Music and Arts for Ithaca Underground’s annual fundraiser!
  • DoosTrio plays Cornell’s Bailey Hall, Hanhzi Wang comes to Ithaca College and jazz saxophonist Joel Frahm plays Deep Dive. Plus, several of Ithaca’s top singer-songwriters join forces on Sunday afternoon for a benefit show in Perry City!
  • Dingonek Street Band – led by former Ithacans Bobby Spellman and Emily Pecoraro – returns to Ithaca to mark the release of its second album, “Arwe,” at the Upstairs on Saturday night. Also, Bumpin Uglies come to Deep Dive, Thousands of One and Double Tiger return to the Range, Destiny La Vibe headlines a Valentine’s Extravaganza at Deep Dive, Crys Matthews plays the Beacon on Aurora Concert Series, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine plays a sold-out concert at Cornell.
  • Kentucky-based Joslyn and the Sweet Compression come to Deep Dive, Band of Horses returns to the State Theatre, and the fifth annual Bob Marley Birthday Tribute Benefit concert is back!
  • Kilamanzego headlines a Microtones show at Forest Lodge 180, Sungazer and Sirintip join forces at Deep Dive, and KENMUJO tops an Ithaca Underground bill at Sacred Root Kava Bar.
  • Max Childs gets ready to record a live album, Joe Crookston returns for a homecoming show, Kevin Kinsella brings back his old-school John Brown’s Body tunes, and Grateful 4 B.I.G. mashes up the Dead and Biggie Smalls! Plus, a bunch of local bands are in action in the coming week, including on Thanksgiving Eve – traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year! And several Ithaca roots-rockers invade Rochester on Saturday night to pay tribute to Tom Petty.
  • Acclaimed British blues guitarist and vocalist Joanne Shaw Taylor comes to Geneva on Saturday night to perform at the Smith Opera House. A native of England’s West Midlands (aka “the Black Country”), Taylor has been living in the United States for 15 years and is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. She’s touring to promote her latest album, 2022’s “Nobody’s Fool.”
  • Canadian singer-songwriter Abigail Lapell comes to the Trumansburg, roots troubadours Chris Smither and the Suitcase Junket return to Ithaca, local favorites Anthony Kannon and Johnny Dowd host album release shows, and British blues rocker Joanne Shaw Taylor plays Geneva. Plus, Vicious Fishes mark the five-year anniversary of their debut album and Transpose: Ithaca Queer Singers Alliance will present a wide-ranging concert.
  • Friday’s +LIVE+ show at the State Theatre has been postponed due to covid, but there are still plenty of other cool shows to check out this weekend! Drag City recording artist P.G. Six performs at Angry Mom Records, Neighbor comes to the Range, and the Cornell Concert Series welcomes Frank Vignola and Tessa Lark to Bailey Hall. Plus, Deer Tick returns for a sold-out Sunday night show in Homer followed by Mat Kearney on Monday night. And don’t miss “50 Years of the Hip Hop DJ,” a free roundtable discussion featuring four legends of the genre Saturday night at Deep Dive!
  • It has been more than 28 years since +LIVE+ played at Cornell University’s Barton Hall. Frontman Ed Kowalczyk will bring the current version of the popular 90s alt-rock band to the State Theatre of Ithaca on Friday night (Update: this show has been postponed!) Also, Tail Light Rebellion returns from Wisconsin, loadbang continues its residency at Cornell, Neighbor comes to the Range, and the Cornell Concert Series welcomes Frank Vignola and Tessa Lark to Bailey Hall.
  • Moon Hooch comes to Deep Dive, the Ithaca Goth Prom debuts in Enfield, Hiroya Tsukamoto returns to Trumansburg, and Donna the Buffalo rides into Geneva. Plus, Cornell Music plays tribute to local jazz legend Steve Brown, and the Konrad Paszkudzki Trio comes to SUNY Cortland.
  • Celebrate Halloween with some spooky sounds! Plus, Penelope Voss presents “La Pagliaccia,” Sarah Haggerty returns to the Downstairs, and the Drew Dub Piano Trio debuts at Bike Bar Ithaca!
  • Rubblebucket makes its State Theatre debut, guitar legend Adrian Legg comes to Trumansburg, Erica Dawn Lyle plays Sacred Root Kava Bar, and KISS founding member Ace Frehley visits The L in Horseheads. Also, Bruce Cockburn and Blackmore’s Knight play sold-out shows in Ithaca and Homer, respectively, on Saturday night, and there are a bunch of Halloween-themed shows in the coming days!
  • On Saturday night, Rubblebucket will make its long-overdue return to Ithaca to perform at the State Theatre. It’s the synth-pop band’s first show at the venerable venue after years of appearances at area festivals such as GrassRoots and the Big Mean BBQ and clubs such as The Haunt and Castaways.
