Violin Explorers
Cornell University professor of violin Ariana Kim and special guest Arun Ramamurthy will perform “An Evening of Indian Classical Music” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Carriage House Loft. Ramamurthy is a violinist, composer, and educator based in Brooklyn who is rooted in his lifelong training of South Indian Carnatic music but is influenced by other musical interests, often bridging genres including classical string chamber music and jazz. His ensembles have performed at venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Pioneer Works, and more.

Collegetown Calling
Low Profile will present what is likely to be the last show at Rulloff’s in Collegetown, with local noise punks Chimes of Bayonets joined by Material Objects, a new project from Domenic Gagliano (aka DJ Dusty Visions), Liam Murphy and Bright Shuttle’s Tre Berney.

Put On Your Dancing Shoes
Swing Time Tuesday 2020 continues in downtown Ithaca with the Pelotones – the local quartet of Wayne Gottlieb, Michael Wellen, Harry Aceto and Alex Specker – whose blend of blues, swing, jazz and R&B is great for dancing and listening. Come at 6:30 p.m. for a dance lesson, or arrive at 7:30 p.m. for the music.

Electrifying Opera
The Ithaca College Theatre production of the Purcell opera “Dido and Aeneas” will run at IC’s Hoerner Theatre. Directed by Norm Johnson and conducted by Christopher Zemliauskas, the opera tells the tale of Dido, fierce Queen of Carthage, who falls in love with a Trojan Price, Aeneas. Forced apart by trickery, evil and sorcery, the lovers are faced with a brewing storm and potential disaster. Based on Book IV of Virgil’s “Aeneid,” “Dido and Aeneas” is Henry Purcell’s one true opera and his only all-sung dramatic work.

Three of a Kind
Jazz trio Argos Grove – Ithaca College faculty members Nicholas Walker (bass), Greg Evans (drums), and Andrew Carroll (piano) – continue the celebrated Wednesday happy hour community music tradition initiated by i3° at Bar Argos. The trio’s repertoire ranges from Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder to the Beatles, Disney, swing, funk and bossa nova.

Danielle Ponder continues her February residency at the Range, with the third night devoted to a special Daptones tribute show.
