There’s a lot of music on tap this weekend in and around Ithaca, including Latin jazz, classic rock, blues, psychedelia, old-time and much more. Plus, one of the area’s leading composers will host a release show for his new album!

Josh Oxford will release his new album "Oxified" Friday night at the Range.

Getting ‘Oxified’

At the recent Ithaca Festival, local composer Josh Oxford previewed his “Oxified” project, an album of original songs that features contributions from dozens of local musicians. Friday, Oxford will host a release show for the completed album, which reached the finish line with the help of a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign and a recent Galactic Monday fundraiser. He’ll joined by many of the musicians who contributed to the album, including members of Viva Mayhem, Thru Spectrums, the Crucials, Noon Fifteen and many more. The Fall Creek Brass Band will open the show.

Brandon "Taz" Niederauer headlines the final edition of the 2019 Cortland Main Street Music Series on Friday.

Roots Rock Revue

The Cortland Main Street Music Series wraps up its four-week season with a triple bill featuring Cortland’s Marc Ryan, Syracuse roots-rockers Mike Powell and the Black River, and northeast blues-rock guitar prodigy Brandon “Taz” Niederauer.

Airplay has two shows this weekend: Friday at the BoatYard Grill, and Saturday at Stella's Barn.

They Wanna Rock

Airplay – a recently formed band that includes Garry Bordonaro, Danny Stillwell, Tom Bergeron and Dan Gill – will showcase its classic-rock favorites and more along the Cayuga Inlet.

Double Whammy

The Haunt will host a double header of local favorites, with Danny Paolangeli and Friends returning for a free “Blues and Brews” happy hour show at 6-8 p.m. They’ll be followed by Terrapin Station at 9 p.m. for a night of Grateful Dead classics. Cover for the latter show is $5.

Southern Soul

Latin Vibes

Concert in the Garden

Martin Courtney returns to the Haunt Saturday night.

Welcome Return

Real Estate frontman Martin Courtney returns to Ithaca to share a show with Ryley Walker. Courtney has played here several times, both with his band and solo, and his jangly indie pop songs are well worth catching in any setting. Walker, a Chicago native now based in Brooklyn, has released 10 albums that draw on folk, rock, drone and improv influences.

‘Sumthin Phun’ for Everyone
