Feelin’ the Funk

The Range’s biweekly Funk Night continues with a special guest, as The Phryg brings its high-energy prog-funk sound to downtown Ithaca. The band has toured around the northeast and has shared the stage with Bob Lanzetti of Snarky Puppy, The Fritz, Electric Love Machine, Tweed and many more.

Austin MacRae and family will perform a free show Thursday in Cortland's Courthouse Park.

Folk Family

Enter the Haggis play the Cortland Main Street Music Series Friday night.

Celtic Canadians

The Cortland Main Street Music Series continues its 2019 season in downtown Cortland. This week’s edition will feature Enter the Haggis, the Toronto-based Celtic band that combines fiddles and bagpipes with a rock rhythm section. Kicking off the show are local favorites The Starmer Brothers and Adirondack alt-folk band The Old Main.

When: 5:30-9 p.m. Friday

R&B and Beyond

Arthur B and The Planetary Mix will continue the Cornell Summer Session Concert Series. The Ithaca band’s classic R&B influenced sound features silky rhythms supplied by vocalist and guitarist Arthur B and soulful harmonies from Jessie Baldassari, Angie Beeler and Karen Wyatte.

Johnny Russo and the East Hill Classic Jazz Band return to Taughannock Falls State Park Saturday night.

Vintage Vibes

The East Hill Classic Jazz Band will return to Taughannock Falls State Park for the 16th time in the past 40 yearrs. Led by Johnny Russo, the band also includes Steve Brown, Doug Robinson, Brian Earle, Woody Peters, Aloja and Drew Frech; they play American pop and jazz standards from the first half of the 20th century. Last year, Russo’s career was chronicled in the book/CD set, “Ithaca Our Home,” published by the History Center in Tompkins County

Sunday Jazz

Peter Mack and the Macktet will perform an afternoon show, with bassist Mack joined by saxophonist Joe Carello, guitarist Steve Brown, pianist Dino Losito, drummer Mike Melito, trumpeter Paul Merrill and trombonist Marc Anderson.

Kora Feder performs on Bound for Glory Sunday night.

Welcome Return

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Kora Feder returns to Bound for Glory – years after first performing on the show with her mother, Rita Hosking. Feder’s first full-length album, “In Sevens,” came out earlier this year and has already drawn comparison to Pete Seeger (Roots Music Report) and been called "stunningly good" (Ear to the Ground).
