Goldmund (also known as Keith Kenniff) plays minimalist piano pieces that delicately emphasize the physical expression of piano sounds. The overall effect is cinematic, like a film score composed by Erik Satie. Goldmund's piano pieces are short and restrained with spare notes and varying textures
On his album Two Point Discrimination, Goldmund's production is up close and personal, capturing very subtle touches of piano pedals being depressed and piano hammers hitting the strings. The opening track "Leading" features some lightly played arpeggios that sound closer to plucked harp than piano keys. The piece "As" is slow-moving with low, sustained octaves and unexpected dissonant high notes.
The titles for Two Point Discrimination's 11 tracks, when run together, spell out "Leading then from light to shadow they will see as one."
This is Goldmund's third release and part of Western Vinyl's Portrait Series dedicated to music about, inspired by, or from the viewpoint of the person in the portrait.
