On this edition of All Songs Considered, we've got exclusive premieres of two new songs, one from My Morning Jacket and one from the jangly '60s pop duo Cults. We've also got new music from Death Cab for Cutie's highly anticipated new album Codes and Keys. NPR Music will stream the entire albums from My Morning Jacket, Cults and Death Cab soon as part of our First Listen series, but for now, All Songs Considered has a sneak peek from Codes and Keys with the song "Home Is a Fire." Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton discuss the band's relentless consistency, and ponder why some of Death Cab's early fans have turned a deaf ear to its past few albums.

Also on the program this week: autumnal folk-rock from singer-songwriter Chris Bathgate, a discussion of the word "baby" inspired by French ensemble The Bewitched Hands, and an all-out aural assault by Thao & Mirah, with help from Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs (whose new album is currently streaming in full in our site).
