Stretching the Strings

NYC-based sound artist, visual artist and architect Sandy Ewen comes to Ithaca to help kick off a new Experimental Music Series. Her “audio practice focuses on extended guitar techniques, improvisation, graphic scores and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her unique approach to guitar incorporates a wide array of implements – railroad spikes, sidewalk chalk, threaded bolts, steel wool and other items become an arsenal of abstraction.” Elmira’s Tara & Bobby will open with a set of saw and percussion pieces.

Pluck o’ the Irish

Ithaca-based Celtic trio Arise & Go – Michael Roddy (uilleann pipes, border pipes, and whistles), Ellie Goud (fiddle), and Tim Ball (guitar, fiddle, and vocals) – will showcase tunes from their two albums, including their recently released “Meeting Place.”

Ghost Story

Community Concert

The Southside Community Center will host the 16th Annual CUMEP community performance. CUMEP (Community Unity Music Education Program) provides participating kids 3-18 with instruction in music and the arts to help them develop social skills, self-esteem and.
