Let’s Groove Tonight
Deep Dive will host the double bill of lespecial and Grub.
“lespecial is redefining the term ‘power trio.’ The multi-instrumentalists from Connecticut continue to push the boundaries of what a three-piece band is capable of both live and in the studio ahead of their latest album, ‘Odd Times.’ The band’s signature blend of ‘heavy future groove’ combines headbanging metal riffage and surgical rhythmic precision with bone shaking 808s, sub synths and ethereal vocal stylings for a dance floor that welcomes moshing, dancing and hip swaying alike. Listeners are taken on a journey to the musical netherworld through esoteric soundscapes punctuated by raw, primal power.
Hailing from Buffalo “Grub is a multi-genre trio capable of delivering funk-driven madness, improvisational bliss, and shoe-gazing glitch-o-matic electronic soundscapes. They are a true wildcard in today's music scene. With the intent of drawing in music-lovers of all sorts, the boys continue to push the envelope in modern musical expression. Their original catalogue can be described as uniquely inventive, adventurous, and welcoming to new listeners. Each song showcases a seamless blend of genres such as funk, psychedelic rock, electronic, hip-hop, metal, and reggae amidst a pop-esque composition, so there are elements on the table for all.

Ready to Rock
Ithaca's own Maddy Walsh & The Blind Spots will perform a fiery late-night show at The Range with special guests Dirty Mae
“Tenured, original, six-piece ‘Moxy Rock’ band (their own punchy brand of danceable indie pop-rock), steered by the soaring vocals of magnetic songstress and force of nature Maddy Walsh. The band is known for its sparkly aesthetic, from Walsh's signature sequins and white go-go boots to The Blind Spots' Thrift Shop, a big rack of wild re-purposed clothing with the band's logo printed on to their collection of music videos created to accompany songs on all four studio albums. Expect big LOVE, dance grooves, bold electric guitar, political awareness, reckless abandon, and throw-your-arms-up JOY.”
Dirty Mae: “One editor described their hard-to-pin-down sound as ‘New Orleans Ghost Folk. Emmy-nominated composer Michael Whalen said “It's like listening to two characters from a Faulkner novel making music today.’ Our Northern contingency calls it ‘indie folk,’ while our Southern friends say ‘just call it Americana!’ Whatever you call it, it is an unforgettable sound of old and new worlds, that will keep you swinging all night long.”

Sunday Night Jazz
Deep Dive will host the double bill of two local bands, The OXtet (with special guest Ashley Ickes) and Pocket Bandits.
“Seeking an outlet for his keyboard playing while studying percussion at Ithaca College, Josh Oxford started a jazz quintet, consisting of drums, bass, vibraphone, trumpet, and Oxford on keyboards. The OXtet quickly evolved into something far more devious than simply playing jazz standards. Over the years guitar and saxophone were added to fill out the ensemble and create the unique blend of acoustic and electronic instruments. The music takes from the rhythmic complexities inherent in the music of Frank Zappa and the Mahavishnu Orchestra; the funk aspects of 80s Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock; and compositional techniques used in modern classical music, such as atonality and 12-Tone serialism.”
Pocket Bandits is a recently formed band in the organ-trio tradition of Jimmy Smith and Soulive; Joe Massa (guitar), Samuel B. Lupowitz (keys/bass), and Simon Bjarning (drums) blend “funk, prog, jazz, rock and more into genre-bending originals and fresh, groovy takes on classics.”
