Dingonek Street Band – led by former Ithacans Bobby Spellman and Emily Pecoraro – returns to Ithaca to mark the release of its second album, “Arwe,” at the Upstairs on Saturday night. Also, Bumpin Uglies come to Deep Dive, Thousands of One and Double Tiger return to the Range, Destiny La Vibe headlines a Valentine’s Extravaganza at Deep Dive, Crys Matthews plays the Beacon on Aurora Concert Series, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine plays a sold-out concert at Cornell.

‘German Orpheus’
Cornell’s Midday Music for Organ series features Annette Richards performing music by C. P. E. Bach.
“Celebrated by his North German contemporaries as the ‘German Orpheus,’ C. P. E. Bach left a vast oeuvre of music in all genres except opera. His organ works form a small but coherent group, most of them composed for the Princess Anna Amalia of Prussia and her specially-commissioned organ. University Organist Annette Richards explores this striking and imaginative repertoire on the Anabel Taylor organ, an instrument based on the Charlottenburg Castle organ that Anna Amalia would have heard, and perhaps played, in her youth.”

Hosted by guitarist Ryan Peterson and his trio, the monthly Jazz Jam returns to Liquid State Brewing on Monday night with special guest Jesse Collins.
“Saxophonist and composer Jesse Collins has performed with a who’s who of jazz legends including Ari Hoenig, Jimmy Cobb, Larry Coryell, Ed Cherry and many others. Beginning on saxophone when he was 11 years old, Jesse went on to attend Ithaca College for two years where he studied classical saxophone with Dr Steven Mauk, before going on to study at the prestigious New School for Social Research Jazz Studies Program, where he studied privately with Miles Davis saxophone sidemen Lee Konitz and Sam Rivers as well as studied music theory and harmony with Charles Mingus sideman and piano legend Jaki Byard. Collins’ recent recording with jazz giants Ari Hoenig, Ed Cherry and Neal Miner, “Swing Joy Sound,” is on Tezcat Records.”
Peterson says: “My trio will play a couple tunes featuring Jesse before opening up the stage to members of the local jazz community. Each person who signs up will get approximately 2 tunes with the band before rotating. The jam runs 6:30pm-8:30pm - so come early to sign up!
