The third annual F.I.R.E. Festival will take place Sunday afternoon at the Center for the Arts of Homer. Organized by Syracuse singer-songwriter Jess Novak, the festival takes its name from an acronym, standing for “Females. Inspire. Rock. Empower.” And it’s taking place in March as part of an ongoing celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

Marking 50 years of honing their pioneering fusion of jazz, funk, and rock, the Headhunters will bring their anniversary tour to Deep Dive on Thursday night. The band’s last visit to Ithaca was in 2010 when it performed at Castaways – the same venue space that Deep Dive currently occupies.

Acclaimed singer Joan Osborne makes a return to Central New York to promote her new album, “Nobody Owns You.” Since she broke through in 1995 with the multi-platinum “Relish” and its mega-smash “One of Us,” the seven-time Grammy nominee has had a varied career that includes performing with the Funk Brothers in the “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” documentary, fronting the band Trigger Hippy, touring with Mavis Staples, and releasing a Bob Dylan tribute album – all while continuing to write, record, and produce her own music.
