Buffalo Tango Orkestra
Buffalo Tango Orkestra
FINGER LAKES COMMUNITY ARTS GRANTS Presented by Geneva Tango. In this concert, the three styles of Argentine tango dance will be beautifully interpreted by world-class musicians. In addition to Argentine tango, the group consists of experts in classical, Gypsy, klezmer and jazz music. Hear tango gems such as La Cumparsita, Piazzolla, and music of known tango composers such as Julian Plaza and Mariano Mores, as well as BTO’s original arrangements of known and lesser known tunes but inspired by style of tango and milonga. At the origins of tango, in the late 1800s European working class immigrants merged their dance with Afro-Cuban habanera and created tango-habanera. Now there are three styles of Argentine tango dance: tango, vals and milonga. All three distinctive music styles will be illustrated in the concert. Celebrate Geneva’s Hispanic Heritage! Buffalo Tango Orkestra’s performance at The Smith is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts and administered locally by Finger Lakes Community Arts Grants (FLCAG) at Auburn Public Theater
