“Unwrapped: Tales of Unexpected Gifts” is a rare joint appearance by Regi Carpenter and Noa Baum, two old friends and master storytellers who draw on humor, close observation, and very different life experiences to speak to universal truths. The performance is a benefit for Story House Ithaca, a new organization dedicated to bringing people together to share, study, create, and enjoy stories in all their forms. Story House Ithaca is a project of the Center for Transformative Action. Tickets to “Unwrapped” are $20. You can purchase them at https://unwrapped.eventcombo.com. Ticket holders may view the performance for two weeks following the live show. Regi Carpenter grew up in the Thousand Islands region of New York State and now lives in Ithaca, NY. Her story, “Bendable Barbies,” explores the secret desires and shifting expectations of a girl growing up in chaotic and often-challenging circumstances. Noa Baum, who was raised in Israel and now lives in Maryland, will perform “Dolls in My Pocket,” which weaves together elements of ancient folktales with a modern coming-of-age story.
