  • Buffalo’s Strange Standard comes to Deep Dive, Rochester’s Bad Bloom returns to Sacred Root Kava Bar, and Margaret Glaspy and Rickie Lee Jones come to the Center for the Arts of Homer. Plus, Ithaca Underground hosts three prog instrumental bands on Saturday night.Looking ahead to next week, local composer Josh Oxford presents a concert at Ithaca College on Monday night.   • Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a lot of local, regional, and national Celtic bands playing around Central New York this weekend! Also, Chimes of Bayonets celebrates the vinyl release of their latest album, two bands play tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia, and Cornell Cinema presents “32 Sounds.”
  • The third annual F.I.R.E. Festival will take place Sunday afternoon at the Center for the Arts of Homer. Organized by Syracuse singer-songwriter Jess Novak, the festival takes its name from an acronym, standing for “Females. Inspire. Rock. Empower.” And it’s taking place in March as part of an ongoing celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.
  • There are a bunch of cool shows happening this weekend, including Winter Roots at the Trumansburg Conservatory of the Arts, Tafelmusik at Cornell, and the F.I.R.E Festival at the Center for the Arts of Homer. And dozens of other local and regional bands will be onstage throughout the area in the coming week!
  • Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis return to Deep Dive – this time together! – while +LIVE+ comes to the State Theatre for an acoustic show that was postponed from November.     St. Paul and the Broken Bones return to the State Theatre, Ladysmith Black Mambazo visits the Hangar Theatre, Aimee Mann and Godspeed You! Black Emperor play sold-out shows at the Center for the Arts of Homer, a bunch of local Americana bands team up at the Argos Warehouse and indie-rockers and DJs will converse on the Community School of Music and Arts for Ithaca Underground’s annual fundraiser!
  • DoosTrio plays Cornell’s Bailey Hall, Hanhzi Wang comes to Ithaca College and jazz saxophonist Joel Frahm plays Deep Dive. Plus, several of Ithaca’s top singer-songwriters join forces on Sunday afternoon for a benefit show in Perry City!
  • On Friday night, Jakobs Castle makes its Ithaca debut at Deep Dive. The musical project of Jakob Nowell (son of late Sublime vocalist Bradley Nowell) recently signed to Epitaph Records, and has released several singles in anticipation of a full album release in early 2024.
  • Hip hop/R&B artist and Cornell alumnus LGN returns to Ithaca, Jakobs Castle sets up at Deep Dive, the 41st Apple Harvest Festival returns to downtown Ithaca, the ElectroZone hosts a fundraiser at Forest Lodge 180, and bluesman Larry McCray comes to the Center for the Arts of Homer. Plus, the 40th anniversary restored edition of Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense" opens at Cinemapolis!
  • African guitar master Bombino comes to the Center for the Arts of Homer, which also will host sold-out shows by Texas guitar slinger Eric Johnson and Irish legends Clannad. Plus, Laurie Anderson returns to Cornell, and Richie and Rosie return to South Hill Cider.
  • Acclaimed singer Joan Osborne makes a return to Central New York to promote her new album, “Nobody Owns You.” Since she broke through in 1995 with the multi-platinum “Relish” and its mega-smash “One of Us,” the seven-time Grammy nominee has had a varied career that includes performing with the Funk Brothers in the “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” documentary, fronting the band Trigger Hippy, touring with Mavis Staples, and releasing a Bob Dylan tribute album – all while continuing to write, record, and produce her own music.
